Another star attraction in the bouguet of the Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN), the Eco-Cave Park is the first Eco-Garden cum Musical Fountain of Uttaranchal. The result of painstaking lobour in the last couple of years, hewn out of a rocky expanse of hitherto uncharted caves and tunnels adjoining the “Mountview” Tourist Reception Centre, probably deposited there by seismic or volcanic activity eons ago, its potentials was visualized by an in-house team headed by the M.D. whose official residence it adjoins, and translated into reality by the KMVN’s own Construction Division.

A network of inter-connected rocky caves and hanging gardens, it leads the visitor into a mysterious and ancient dream - world and gives the tourist an encapsulated glimpse of what the wilderness of the hill-region can offer-right in the easily approachable middle of civilization.

Drive straight up to entrance, climb up a short flight of steps cut into the hill-side, and enter the cave - world of our prehistoric ancestors. Entry into the caves does seem a little disconcerting at first, but once inside, one is amazed at the vastness of these caves and can even fee a trifle disoriented at the sheer size of the rocks dwarfing one.

Later, when you emerge back into the world of today, you can relax in the hilltop - garden, surrounded on all sides by the lush green hills, from where you can have an un-interrupted view of four peaks that stands as sentinels over this beautiful resort town.
